Gentle Tooth Extractions

Our dentists try to repair a tooth with a filling, crown or other treatment if it’s been broken or badly damaged by decay. However, when there’s too much damage for the tooth to be fixed, that tooth must be removed.

Dr. Chris Bonin has over 30 years of experience performing tooth extractions, including wisdom teeth.

Socket preservation

When a tooth is extracted, a socket is left empty. In order to reduce post-extraction bone loss, prevent dry socket and speed up the healing process, Dr. Bonin does socket preservation on nearly every tooth he extracts, the exception being a tooth extracted and immediately replaced with a dental implant in the same socket. During the socket preservation procedure the empty socket is filled with bone grafting material or a collagen plug.

Wisdom tooth removal

Wisdom teeth, also known as your third molars, will typically emerge during your late teens or early twenties. Wisdom teeth that are blocked by other teeth and not able to erupt through the gum are called “impacted.”

An impacted wisdom tooth can be painful and can cause structural damage to your jaw and other teeth.

Dr. Bonin utilizes the latest extraction methods combined with leading-edge technology to remove wisdom teeth in a gentle way that causes minimal post-operative discomfort and promotes fast healing.
