Invisalign® Clear Teeth Straightening in Huntington Beach
Beautiful, straight teeth without metal braces
Invisalign has been available for more than 15 years and has proven to be an effective teeth straightening method. It is a great alternative to traditional metal braces and can also be used for aligning your bite.
Instead of metal brackets attached to the teeth, Invisalign uses tray-like plastic “aligners” that are comfortable and virtually invisible. Straightening is achieved through a series of aligners that are designed to move your teeth to their final, straight position.
Dr. Pham is an Invisalign preferred provider. She, Dr. Ly and Dr. Amero are all experienced in teeth straightening using the Invisalign system. They treat both teens and adults using Invisalign. The first step is an evaluation of your or your teen’s teeth and bite (how the teeth come together) to ensure that Invisalign is a good option.
Advantages of Invisalign
There are many advantages of invisalign over traditional braces, here are some of them:
- The clear aligners are practically invisible.
- Invisalign aligners are removable so you can take them out on special occasions.
- Invisalign’s system makes it easy to keep your teeth clean. You simply remove the aligners to brush and floss.
- The aligners are removable, so you can eat whatever you want.
- With Invisalign there are usually fewer visits to the dentist, which is great for someone with a busy schedule.
- There are no wires or rubber bands so there is far less irritation of the cheek and gums.
- The aligners are made from BPA-free plastic.
How Invisalign works
Invisalign treatment takes approximately one year for adults and the same length of time as regular braces for teens. The nice thing is that you can see the changes as you go along which is very encouraging.
Planning your treatment
We take digital X-rays, photos and impressions of your teeth, which Invisalign uses to create digital 3D images of your teeth. We use these to map out a precise treatment plan, including the exact movements of your teeth. Your doctor can show you a virtual representation of how your teeth will move with each stage of treatment, and let you know the approximate length of treatment.
Custom Aligners Based on your Treatment Plan
Following the doctor’s treatment plan, Invisalign creates a series of custom, clear aligners which gradually move your teeth into position.
It’s recommended to wear the aligners for 20-22 hours a day. You can take the aligners out to eat and to brush and floss your teeth.
Approximately every two weeks you will change your aligners. Each set of aligners gently shifts your teeth into a new position, and then the next one takes it a little further. You will meet with the doctor every six weeks or so to monitor your progress.
Conditions Invisalign can fix
Invisalign treatment can fix a wide variety of problems with teeth and bite alignment, from mild cases of crooked teeth to much more difficult problems involving serious bite issues.
Crowded teeth can be difficult to clean properly. Lack of proper oral care can promote tooth decay and cause a higher risk of gum disease.
An overbite can cause excessive wear on the lower teeth, gum irritation and can also cause jaw problems.
This occurs when the bottom teeth protrude beyond the upper teeth and can interfere with the normal function of front teeth and molars, and can lead to jaw problems.
Gaps in Teeth
Gaps can cause teeth to shift into the empty spaces and become loose. Food and bacteria are easily trapped in gaps and increase the risk for tooth decay and gum disease.
An open bite can interfere with chewing and can cause speech impairment and jaw problems.
This is a symptom of jaw misalignment, which can cause teeth to wear, as well as causing gum disease.
we understand how important it is for teens to feel confident about their smile. We offer Invisalign Teen clear teeth straightening as a less noticeable alternative to traditional metal braces.
Invisalign Teen is specially designed for teens. There are additional replacement aligners included in case your teen loses his or her aligner, and the aligners have a special system for checking to see if your teen has been wearing them as required. Teens love them as they are far less noticeable than regular braces and they can be taken out for special events or photos.
